Posted Date: 02/09/26 (01:32 PM)

Woodford County Public Schools Students, Families, and Staff Members,

We know it has been a very challenging end of January and beginning of February. We are certainly thankful for the sunshine today! We are also thankful for your patience and partnership during the winter storm and resulting school closure.

We want to take a moment to highlight the hard work and collaborative effort of the WCPS custodial and maintenance teams, county and city leadership, local emergency management, and roads department for their tireless efforts in clearing roads, parking lots, and sidewalks during the harsh winter storm. Thank you to our transportation department for cleaning and maintaining buses and for checking roads. It was such a team effort to open schools, and we are grateful for everyone involved in the effort.

The Impact of Snow Days on the School Calendar
Please see the calendar image below in reference to this explanation.

The WCPS school calendar has make-up days built into it.
  • The snow days on December 12 and January 26 are make-up days 1 and 2, making the last day of school Friday, May 29.
  • The snow day on Tuesday, January 27, is make-up day 3, which means that students will now be in school on February 16 (Presidents' Day).
  • The snow day on Wednesday, January 28, is make-up day 4, which means that students will now be in school on Friday, March 6.
  • The snow day on Wednesday, February 4, is make-up day 5, which means that students will now be in school on Monday, March 9
